The distress for Manchester United fans continued this week as the club suffered an opening day home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

In the latest episode of Paddy Power’s Fan Denial, the operator shone a light on some of the more emotive responses from the Old Trafford faithful.

The video emphasised just how optimistic United fans were prior to the match as the tenure of Erik Ten Hag commenced.

Any optimism vanished though, as United plundered to a defeat at the hands of Graham Potter’s Brighton putting on a lacklustre showing.

It caused United fans to flock in their droves to social media to voice their angst at a poor performance from the reds, who look like they will be frustrated for another campaign.

Two first half goals from Brighton meant that Ten Hag’s side faced an uphill battle from the outset of the clash, and despite pulling a goal back, they failed to salvage anything at Old Trafford.
